32 BPI Group Career Direction

Pave Your Lane Update

Katie Visco's Pave Your Lane Initiative came to a close on December 29, 2009 when she ran across the finish line (into the Pacific Ocean). Her run to motivate and inspire other individuals to find and follow their passions is also supporting Girls on the Run, a charity that empowers young girls through running. Katie's successful journey has made her the second youngest female ever to complete a solo run across America. Visit her website, or find her on Facebook and Twitter to congratulate her!

32SM Kick-off Event

On June 30, 2009, BPI group celebrated the official launch of 32SM. The program, held on the McDonald’s Campus in Oak Brook, IL, included a presentation by Philip Gardner, Ph.D., Director of the College Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University, and a panel discussion on the challenges recent graduates face in finding and keeping a job they love.

Dr. Gardner’s presentation focused on the skill gap that will be looming as boomers start to leave the workforce and new college grads begin to join, and included original research done by Michigan State University’s College Employment Research Institute.

The panel discussion was a lively and informative look into the challenges recent graduates and early careerists face in the marketplace, thanks to the interesting and varied perspectives of our panelists:

  • George Theros, former Manager of University Relations for Motorola Corporation
  • Erika Jones, Director of Career Services, Kendall College
  • Celina Roth, Liaison Manager, Healthcare Information Management Systems Society
  • Katie Visco, recent college grad and founder of the Pave Your Lane initiative
